Welder Fabricator (Steel – Mild/Stainless)

Salary: £15.00–£19.00 per hour + overtime (×1.5 & ×2)

Overview:
A busy steel fabrication workshop in Newark is seeking an experienced Fabricator Welder to join their growing team. You’ll work on high-quality mild steel and stainless steel fabrications, producing bespoke frames, platforms, pipe supports, brackets and general structural assemblies for industrial customers.

Responsibilities:
• Fabricate from detailed engineering drawings, working independently on full builds
• MIG/TIG weld mild steel and stainless to a high standard (3–20mm typical thickness)
• Cut, bend, form and shape steel using saws, guillotines, press brakes and rollers
• Build jigs, assemblies and structures from scratch with minimal supervision
• Carry out tacking, full welding, dressing, linishing and finishing work
• Operate general workshop machinery: drills, grinders, plasma cutters, punches
• Check dimensions, tolerances and ensure all work meets quality expectations
• Work safely and maintain a clean, organised working environment

Requirements:
• Strong background in fabrication and welding (MIG essential, TIG an advantage)
• Able to confidently read and work from engineering drawings
• Experienced working with mild steel and stainless steel
• Skilled in cutting, forming, fitting and assembly
• Good problem-solving ability and pride in producing high-quality work
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
