Job Description

Salary: £40,000–£55,000 + bonus + benefits
Location: Nottingham
Type: Permanent

Overview:
A growing engineering consultancy in Nottingham is seeking a Structural Engineer to support the design and delivery of steel structures, frameworks, platforms, civil structures and building projects across industrial, commercial and public-sector clients. This role offers full project ownership, client-facing responsibility and a clear route to Senior/Chartered status.

Responsibilities:
• Deliver structural designs for steelwork, concrete, timber and masonry structures
• Produce calculations, reports, feasibility studies and technical specifications
• Use analysis software (TEKLA Structural Designer, STAAD, Robot or similar)
• Create and review detailed drawings, GA’s and connection details
• Work closely with architects, contractors and project managers throughout project lifecycle
• Attend site visits, surveys, inspections and client meetings
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and technicians
• Ensure all work complies with Eurocodes, BS standards and CDM regulations
• Support project delivery from concept through to construction and handover
• Contribute to continuous improvement, value engineering and innovative design solutions

Requirements:
• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (MEng preferred)
• 2–10+ years’ experience in a structural engineering environment
• Strong understanding of steel and concrete structural behaviour
• Proficient with structural analysis software (any considered)
• Ability to produce clear calculations, design reports and technical documentation
• Confident reading drawings and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams
• Working toward Chartership (IStructE or ICE) or already Chartered (advantage)
• Strong problem-solving skills and professional communication
