CNC Turner – Setter/Operator

Salary: £15.50–£20.00 per hour + overtime (×1.5 & ×2)

Overview:
A precision engineering company in Derby is recruiting an experienced CNC Turner Setter/Operator to join their growing machining team. You’ll work on high-tolerance components for aerospace, automotive and general engineering using modern CNC lathes with Fanuc or Mazak controls. Strong overtime, clean environment, and progression available.

Responsibilities:
• Set and operate CNC turning centres (Fanuc / Mazak / Siemens considered)
• Perform full machine setups: tooling, workholding, datums, offsets, probing
• Produce precision one-offs, prototypes and small batch components
• Read and interpret complex engineering drawings and tolerances
• Carry out tool changes, offsets, edits and minor program adjustments
• Inspect components using verniers, micrometers, gauges and CMM support
• Work with stainless, mild steel, aluminium, tool steels and exotic alloys
• Maintain machine condition, tooling management and workshop standards
• Work closely with supervisors and engineers to resolve machining issues
• Ensure consistent quality and adherence to production targets

Requirements:
• Experienced CNC Turner – setting & operating essential
• Strong understanding of tooling, speeds, feeds and tight tolerances
• Confident reading technical drawings and working to GD&T
• Experience with Fanuc or Mazak (both considered)
• Ability to work independently and produce high-quality components
• Good problem-solving skills and a pride in machining accuracy
