Salary: £38,000–£52,000 + overtime + benefits

Type: Permanent

Overview:
A leading civil & infrastructure engineering company in Derby is seeking a Civils Design Engineer to support the design of highways, drainage networks, earthworks, foundations, and infrastructure works across industrial, commercial and residential projects. This role offers full project life-cycle involvement, technical ownership and fast progression into Senior Engineer.

Responsibilities:
• Produce detailed civil engineering designs for highways, drainage, earthworks, utilities and infrastructure
• Create drawings, calculations, modelling and design reports using Civil 3D / MicroDrainage / Causeway
• Undertake ground modelling, levels design, S278/S38 highway work, and SuDS drainage schemes
• Complete Flood Risk Assessments, drainage strategies and supporting documentation
• Liaise with local authorities, contractors, structural teams, and project managers
• Conduct site visits, surveys, inspections and technical assessments
• Manage your own workload across multiple live projects
• Provide input into value engineering, buildability and cost optimisation
• Support senior engineers with bid work, proposals and project planning
• Ensure designs comply with DMRB, Design Manual, Sewers for Adoption, Building Regs and relevant standards

Requirements:
• Experience as a Civils Design Engineer within consultancy or infrastructure engineering
• Proficient with Civil 3D, MicroDrainage, Causeway or similar civil design software
• Strong understanding of drainage, highways, earthworks and general infrastructure design
• Able to produce calculations, drawings, design packs and technical reports
• Confident communicating with clients, contractors and local authorities
• Degree in Civil Engineering or similar
• Progressing toward IEng/CEng with ICE (advantage)
