Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Salary: £38,000–£46,000 + overtime + call-out + benefits

Overview:
A leading manufacturing company in Castle Donington is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join their engineering team. You’ll work on a wide range of machinery including conveyors, pumps, motors, hydraulics, pneumatics and high-speed production equipment. Excellent overtime availability, strong training and clear progression into Senior Engineer or Maintenance Supervisor.
Responsibilities:
• Carry out reactive, planned and preventative maintenance on mechanical plant and machinery
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults on conveyors, gearboxes, pumps, bearings, shafts, motors, hydraulics and pneumatics
• Install, strip down and rebuild mechanical components and assemblies
• Support continuous improvement, reliability initiatives and machinery upgrades
• Ensure downtime is minimised and production targets are maintained
• Perform mechanical fitting, alignment, belt changes, lubrication and general maintenance tasks
• Work closely with production teams to prioritise workload and respond efficiently
• Complete maintenance logs, job sheets and asset records accurately
• Assist with commissioning new equipment and machinery installations
• Adhere to health & safety procedures and safe working practices at all times
Requirements:
• Experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer or Mechanical Fitter within manufacturing or industrial environments
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and breakdown response skills
• Good knowledge of conveyors, pumps, motors, gearboxes, hydraulics and pneumatics
• Ability to read engineering drawings and mechanical schematics
• Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering
• Any electrical knowledge is an advantage (not essential)
• Proactive attitude with strong problem-solving skills
