Salary: £15.50–£19.50 per hour + overtime (×1.5 & ×2)

Overview:
A well-established engineering & fabrication company in Matlock is looking for a Charge Hand to take day-to-day responsibility for a small team on the shopfloor. You’ll support production planning, allocate work, maintain quality standards and lead by example across fabrication, welding and general engineering operations.

Responsibilities:
• Lead a small team of fabricators, welders and general workshop staff
• Allocate work, manage priorities and ensure jobs are completed to specification
• Support production planning, workflow organisation and daily coordination
• Carry out fabrication/welding tasks when required (hands-on leadership)
• Check quality, tolerances and adherence to drawings before sign-off
• Assist with training new staff, mentoring and skills development
• Drive 5S, H&S compliance and safe working procedures
• Communicate daily with supervisors, engineering and quality departments
• Help improve processes, efficiency and productivity across the workshop

Requirements:
• Experience as a Charge Hand, Team Leader, or Senior Fabricator/Welder
• Strong background in fabrication/welding (MIG essential, TIG an advantage)
• Confident reading technical drawings and coordinating jobs
• Good leadership, communication and organisation skills
• Ability to maintain quality standards and drive team performance
• Positive attitude and ability to lead by example
