Job Description
Salary: £26,000–£32,000 + overtime + funded training

Overview:
A rapidly growing engineering manufacturer in Mansfield is looking for a Junior Design Engineer to join their expanding team. You’ll work on real engineering projects from day one — creating 3D models, producing detailed manufacturing drawings, and supporting the development of bespoke mechanical products. Responsibilities:
• Produce high-quality 3D models and assemblies using SolidWorks or Inventor
• Create detailed manufacturing drawings for fabrication, machining and assembly
• Work closely with senior designers to develop concepts into production-ready designs
• Assist with design calculations, material selection and cost estimations
• Update drawings, BOMs, technical packs and engineering documentation
• Support R&D activity for new product development
• Liaise with workshop teams to resolve design queries and improve manufacturability
• Participate in design reviews and continuous improvement activities
• Contribute ideas for efficiency, quality and product enhancements
Requirements:
• 3D CAD experience (SolidWorks or Inventor preferred)
• Understanding of mechanical engineering principles
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Knowledge of fabrication, machining or sheet metal processes (advantage)
• Strong problem-solving skills and high attention to detail
• HND/HNC/Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar
• Eagerness to learn, develop and take on responsibility
